Well… As you may have noticed, I did not post every day in May like I had hoped. Nablopomo is hard when life gets in the way. One of the prompts that I really liked from last month though was a photo prompt: nightlife. I found it kind of funny since 10 or 15 or 20 years ago, the picture that I would have posted would have been so much different from today. (And each from the other as well.)
When I initially read the prompt, I thought about kids or pets sleeping because that’s about the extent of my nightlife these days but last weekend while I was at camp (Yes grown up camp! It was awesome!) I took the picture I had been waiting for!
Hubby had a little trouble making this out initially. Do you? I can clearly see my delicious s’more set against a backdrop of a community campfire. What better kind of nightlife could I ask for on an almost-summer night?
I took this picture today in the woods because I thought this plant was so cool. It’s like the flower has its own little umbrella. I don’t remember ever seeing these before and I have no idea what they’re called.
I’ve never really used filters before because I don’t alter my pictures much beyond cropping them but it was fun to run this through a bunch of filters. Do you have a favorite photo app or filter that you love to use? I’d love to hear about it and check it out.
This is the pizap iPhone app with stunner filter.
I’ve missed a few days of nablopomo and this is a prompt from earlier in the month that I didn’t do but I’m not going to stress about it. I’m just gonna keep going!
Today’s recycled writing prompt: what is your favorite angle for being photographed? Slightly above, below, to the side?
I have to credit my dear friend Bonnie with spawning my love of the ‘from above’ shot. When you’re looking up, everything looks firmer and in place which is very helpful as I approach 40 and inherit my family’s heavy-set Polish face complete with jowls. Sigh. Getting older isn’t pretty but it’s better than the alternative.
Hopefully, you can forgive the overall fatigued look of this selfie that was taken at the end of a very, very long day!
